ALL ABOUT SHILAJIT
Shilajit is used in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine. It has been reported to contain around 85 minerals in ionic form, as well as triterpenes, humic acid and fulvic acid. In Charaka(200 BC) and Susruta Samhita (200 AD), Shilajit been described as a panacea as well as RASAYANA (rejuvenative) which can cure all ailments and prolongs the life.
Recent studies have showed Shilajit is naturally adorned with several medicinal properties. The natural resin has an adaptogenic property which increases the cells ability to absorb nutrients including many important trace elements. Moreover, it is proved to be as an antioxidant which counteracts free radicals. Similarly, It has many beneficial effects in human systems and helps to maintain the homeostasis in body.
Shilajit is mainly found in the Altai, Himalaya, and Caucasus mountains. The substance found in the Caucasus Mountains, and the Altai Mountains is called mumijo (Russian) which is similar to Shilajit but not exactly the same. The source of the highest quality Shilajit is considered to be of Nepal Himalayas where the people are involved in collection, purification and use of Shilajit from time immemorial. Shilajit found in Nepal matches the description of ancient Ayurvedic text "Charaka".
